A Dictionary of the Newari Language with a Glossary in Italian

Among the old dictionaries of Nepal Bhasa, one old dictionary is also a Nepal Bhasa and Italian language dictionary prepared around Nepal Sambat 817 by the scholar named 'Gian Gualvarrodo Massa'. This is the first Nepal Bhasa dictionary compiled with these two languages (Nepal Bhasa and Italian). The entries here are given in Nepal Lipi (Nepal script) and their meanings are given in Italian. Later, Dr. Ted Theodor Riccardi edited this dictionary and published it in 2014 A.D. under the name 'A dictionary of the Newari language with a glossary in Italian'. This dictionary is of Nepali (paper/book) measuring 24×14 cm.It was handwritten on paper. The paper is torn in places. Due to ink smudges, some letters are difficult to read. The first 26 pages are blank, followed by 3284 words on 492 pages. Although the last four pages do not have page numbers, they include names of months, zodiac signs, and numbers. After that, 20 pages are left blank. Observing the expressive words included, it is evident that these words were collected through colloquial speech rather than from any written source. Its name has been kept as 'Dizionario Newari-Italiano'.
