Amareshman was the son of Vishweshwar Man and Vishnudevi from Thapathali, Kathmandu. After completing BSc from Patna University in 1956, he pursued MS from the University of North Carolina in the United States. Amaresh, a botanist, made an invaluable contribution to the field of agricultural management and agricultural policy while working at the National Agriculture Research Center.
