Newar Folk Song: Barahmasya Song

How much grace have you given, Krishna?

Grant me your sight, even a little. ||Refrain||

In Chaitra, the Ajuraswan flower bloomed in the forest

In Baishakh, Chuwa flower, rose, and Churaswan flower

The peak of the Jasmine tree, the youth of spring

How can I bear it, Lord, without you? ||1||

In Jestha, the jasmine and Chaswan flowers bloomed

In Ashadh, the lotus and Champa flowers bloomed,

Unable to bear the heat of summer

Lord, grant me coolness and shade. ||2||

In Shrawan month, Sukundarraj (flower)

In Bhadra, the Palas flower and Uphol Chavo flower

In the rainy season, the rain flowed down

Tears welled up in my eyes due to your separation. ||3||

In Ashoj, basil, and Lavanjifo flower,

In Kartik, Gyanthaku and Godavari flowers,

In autumn, the moonlight shone brightly

Lord, your separation is like that. ||4||

In Mangsir, only the Dafo flower bloomed,

In Poush, Bakumad and Madhuswan flowers on the lotus

Unable to bear the cold of winter

Lord, I endure with hope for you. ||5||

In Magh, the Mikoo flower, in Fagun, the Taku flower

The leaves of the trees in winter were blown away by the wind.

My heart longs to play colors with you, Lord

Fulfill the hope of my heart. ||6||
