Ma Appa refers to large bricks previously used for house construction. With the advent of local bricks, the use of these bricks has largely disappeared. However, these Ma Appa, which were used previously, are now being used for foundation work and to build strong walls. These bricks do not have any specific face. Ma Appa are bricks prepared to be thick from both top and bottom. When building a wall using only clay and bricks, an 18-inch width is given, and Ma Appa are used because they are placed almost empty or with just clay in the middle. Due to their thickness, they do not break easily. Thousands of years old Ma Appa are stillused when laying foundations for general public buildings and when building inner walls. Ma Appa are also used on the top of the stair landings.
