Born from the womb of mother Gangadevi Karmacharya and father Krishnagopal Karmacharya in Gwamari Tole, Bhaktapur in Nepal Sambat 1082 (1962 AD), Mahendragopal Karmacharya is a unique servant of Nepalbhasa. Having served as the headmaster of Shanti Niketan Secondary School for a long time, dedicating his time to the field of education, he has done extensive work to promote Nepalbhasa and its literature by being associated with Virat Sahitya Sammelan Guthi as its chairman and other linguistic literary organizations.
Mr. Mahendragopal Karmacharya, who also writes in Nepali language besides Nepalbhasa, has edited various books in the field of Nepalbhasa literature, in addition to writing stories and short stories. In the story genre, his short story collection 'Ilam Nyanagu Nhyasaw' has been published, and many issues of 'Hyaunbala' magazine have been published under his editorship. Similarly, he has also edited books such as 'Virat Sahitya Sammelan Guthi Khwopa Mhasika', 'Kavi Yogendra Pradhan', 'Mhasika Malegu Jhwolay', and 'Siddhi Bwokhan' published by Siddhi Das Pratishthan.
Mahendragopal Karmacharya, who has won many professional awards in his career, was honored with the first Ram Shekhar Lumanti Award (N.S. 1139) by the Ram Shekhar Lumanti Daboo for his literary work 'Ilam Nyanagu Nhyasaw' (short story collection 1139).
