Nhuchheraj Shakya

Nhuchheraj Shakya is an unparalleled artist of metal sculpture. He was born on Tuesday, Kaulathwa Saptami, Nepal Sambat 1053, to his father, late Dhanraj Shakya, and mother, Purnamaya Shakya, at Okubahal, Mahabuddha, Lalitpur. Under the patronage of his uncle Siddhiraj Shakya, he started working in the field of metal sculpture in Nepal Sambat 1075. He began his journey in the art field by creating various traditional metal household items. The specialty of his art is that he sculpts idols based on various original details including fierce (Raudrarup) and peaceful (Shantirup) forms, creating sculptures from small to very large sizes.He has created, even incorporating objects and details seen in dreams into his sculptures. Art Exhibitions— Nepal Handicraft Exhibition. Notable Works— 1) Construction of a 30-inch Tara in Boudha, Kathmandu. 2) Construction of a Manjushree avatar statue at Maitri Gumba, Swayambhu, Kathmandu. 3) Construction of a 40-inch Maitri Buddha and Lama Buddha statue at Mysore Gumba, India.
