Anandakumar was born in 1923 in Maru, Kathmandu, as the son of Ashwini Kumar and Jagannath Laxmi. In 1944, he obtained a degree as an Ayurvedacharya from India. Having served for over fifty years in the field of Ayurveda, he is a renowned specialist in Nepal. He is especially famous for treating whooping cough. He served as the president of the Nepal Ayurvedic Society for many years.
